LEARN TO DANCE THE SAMBA WITH GEMINI DANCE STUDIOS

Samba is a happy, exuberant dance with lots of bounce and a strong hip action.

It is a Brazilian dance with African origins. There are many variations of Samba danced at the Rio carnival, during this time many Samba schools are involved with very elaborate costumes.

The bounce action comes from a strong flexing and straightening of the knees, therefore this is not a good dance to do if you have knee problems – please tell us if you have knee problems.

The general footwork is Ball Flat, Ball, Ball Flat, but other footwork is used in some moves.
